25 Students to Vie For One Seat At University of Barisal


Barisal University, approved in the ECNEC meeting on November 29, 2008, will be the only general public university in Barisal division and the country's 33rd public university.

At least 25 students will vie for a seat in the first year honours admission test under 2011-12 session of Barisal University (BU).

A total of 9,924 students applied for 400 seats under three units in four faculties, BU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Harun-or-Rashid Khan said.

According to BU sources, 1,469 students applied for 65 seats in Mathematics, 3,716 students for 65 seats in English, 65 in Economics, 65 in Sociology, 4, 739 for 70 seats in Marketing and 70 seats in Business Management.

A 120-mark MCQ test will be held on 2 and 3 December. The rest 80 marks will be added to the total marks as per students’ results of HSC and SSC examinations. Students would be selected on merit to be judged by the results of the test.

Barisal University is the only public university in Barisal division.
